18K Yellow Gold Amethyst Cat Pendant with Diamonds, Pearls and Hot Enamel

This sculptural pendant,  “The Violet Dream,” is conceived as a miniature wearable work of art, capturing the quiet intimacy of a sleeping cat curled peacefully within a finely sculpted golden basket surrounded by flowers and foliage. Handcrafted in 18K yellow gold, the composition brings together fine jewelry, gemstone carving, hot enamel, and sculptural goldwork in an intimate three-dimensional scene.

At the center of the pendant is a sleeping cat individually hand-carved from natural amethyst. The cat is shaped directly from the gemstone by hand, with its curled body, resting paws, delicate features, and flowing tail carefully sculpted to create a serene and lifelike presence. The natural translucency and violet tones of the amethyst give the figure a soft, luminous quality, while the hand-carved golden basket beneath it forms an intricate sculptural setting for the sleeping cat.

The surrounding composition is brought to life through luminous purple hot enamel, creating a rich, glass-like surface around the central sculpture. Sculpted 18K yellow gold flowers, leaves, vines, and ornamental details emerge across the enamel, while natural diamonds and pearls are incorporated throughout the composition. The brilliance of the diamonds and soft luster of the pearls contrast with the deep violet enamel and translucent amethyst, creating layers of color, texture, and light.

The reverse of the pendant is treated as an integral part of the jewel rather than simply a functional backing. It is finished with elaborate hand-worked gold ornamentation and set with additional natural amethysts, allowing the gemstone palette and decorative detail to continue across the reverse and giving the pendant a complete presentation from every viewing angle.

The gold composition begins as an original sculpture hand-carved in wax within the atelier. Once the model has been completed, it is transferred into 18K yellow gold using the traditional lost-wax casting technique, preserving the sculptural forms of the original wax. The gold components are subsequently refined, assembled, chased, polished, enameled, and gemstone-set by hand. The amethyst cat is separately carved by hand before being carefully incorporated into the finished composition.

Measuring approximately 4 cm (1.6 inches) in diameter, its circular format creates the impression of looking into a miniature jeweled garden, with the sleeping amethyst cat, golden basket, flowers, pearls, diamonds, and purple enamel forming a layered three-dimensional scene.

Each pendant is individually handcrafted and made to order, with an estimated production lead time of approximately three months from order confirmation. As every amethyst cat is carved individually from natural material and every gold composition is finished by hand, subtle variations are inherent to the creation of each example.

In addition to the completed jewel, the client receives a complimentary signed original design sketch prepared by the atelier. The drawing forms part of the artistic process and accompanies the finished pendant as an element of its provenance.

From the initial drawing and wax sculpture to gemstone carving, enameling, setting, and final finishing, each stage is developed and executed individually.

The pendant is created within the Konforti family atelier, a multi-generational workshop led by Inga and Barak Konforti and founded by master artists Ella and Yuri Bogoslavsky. The atelier brings together traditional sculpture, lost-wax casting, gemstone carving, hot enamel, precious-metal work, and fine jewelry techniques in the creation of highly detailed wearable works of art.
