Previously commissioned. Each new piece is handcrafted upon request.

This handcrafted Torah shield, titled "Guardian Lions" is executed in sterling silver with a softly oxidized and tarnished finish that enhances the depth and sculptural richness of the composition. Measuring 23 cm in height and 20 cm in width (9.05 x 7.87 inches), the piece presents an opulent ceremonial design inspired by historic synagogue silver, royal heraldic ornamentation, and Baroque artistry.

Each torah shield is made to order and individually handcrafted within our family atelier, with an estimated production lead time of approximately 4 months from order confirmation. As part of the artistic process and provenance of the work, the client receives a complimentary signed original design sketch prepared by the atelier.

At the center appear the Tablets of the Ten Commandments (Luchot HaBrit), featuring raised Hebrew lettering and framed by two heraldic lions standing beneath an elaborate royal crown. Flowing throughout the composition are deeply sculpted roses, scrolling foliage and intricate openwork details that create remarkable dimensionality across the entire surface.

The lions symbolize guardianship, strength, and the Lion of Judah tradition frequently associated with sacred Torah ornaments, while the crown represents divine sovereignty and the sanctity of the Torah itself. The surrounding floral ornamentation softens the architectural composition and gives the piece a sense of movement and ceremonial grandeur.

An empty cartouche appears along the lower section of the shield and may be custom engraved with a synagogue dedication, family name, memorial inscription, or commemorative text, allowing the piece to become both a sacred ceremonial object and a meaningful heirloom commission.

The darker oxidized recesses contrast beautifully against the polished sterling silver highlights, emphasizing the extraordinary relief work and intricate handcrafted textures throughout the design. The result is a museum style Judaica object with a strong sense of historical elegance and atelier craftsmanship.

The shield may also be resized on demand to accommodate different Torah dimensions or custom ceremonial requirements.

Each piece is created within the Konforti family atelier, a multi generational workshop led by Inga and Barak Konforti, and founded by master artists Ella Konforti and Yuri Bogoslavsky. Every work is entirely handcrafted using traditional techniques including wax carving, lost wax casting, hand chasing, engraving, and meticulous sculptural finishing, continuing a shared artistic legacy shaped across generations.
