The monumental sculptural chess table “Napoleon” is conceived as an extraordinary companion piece to the celebrated Napoleon chess compositions created within the Konforti family atelier. Far beyond a functional support for a chessboard, the table is envisioned as a complete work of decorative art, combining symbolism, architectural design, precious materials, and master craftsmanship into a museum-level collectible object.

At the heart of the composition stands a monumental sculptural representation of Victoria, the ancient Roman goddess of Victory. The figure serves as both the visual and symbolic foundation of the table, referencing one of the most enduring themes associated with Napoleon Bonaparte. According to historical accounts, Napoleon rarely declared “I have won.” Instead, he often expressed his triumphs by saying, “I have achieved a Victoria,” elevating victory itself into an almost divine concept. This powerful symbolism forms the artistic soul of the entire composition.

The table measures approximately 80 cm in height (31.5 inches) and supports a substantial tabletop measuring 80 x 80 cm (31.5 x 31.5 inches) with a thickness of approximately 9 cm (3.54 inches). The imposing dimensions create a commanding presence suitable for luxury interiors, private collections, executive offices, libraries, and museum-quality display environments.

The tabletop is handcrafted from carefully selected precious hardwoods and finished with a deep black lacquer that creates a rich, mirror-like surface. The dark finish provides a dramatic visual contrast to the precious metal elements and enhances the architectural character of the overall composition.

The sculptural and decorative elements incorporate approximately 20 kilograms of sterling silver, executed using traditional atelier techniques and enriched with luxurious 24-karat vermeil. The extensive silverwork introduces remarkable depth, dimensionality, and visual richness throughout the structure while reinforcing the Imperial aesthetic that defines the piece.

Further refinement is achieved through intricate inlays of natural lapis lazuli and mother-of-pearl. The deep royal blue tones of the lapis lazuli evoke the grandeur of Imperial courts and military honors associated with the Napoleonic era, while the luminous iridescence of mother-of-pearl introduces elegance, light, and visual balance. Together, these materials create a sophisticated interplay of color, texture, and reflected light.

Every example is individually handcrafted within the Konforti family atelier and produced entirely to order with the lead time of 5 months. The creation process combines traditional sculptural techniques including wax carving, lost-wax casting, hand engraving, chasing, precious metal assembly, stone setting, wood finishing, and meticulous hand polishing. Due to the complexity of the work, each table requires extensive atelier production and is executed by master craftsmen following the artistic traditions established by the founders of the workshop.

The Konforti family atelier is a multi-generational workshop led by Inga and Barak Konforti and founded by master artists Ella Konforti and Yuri Bogoslavsky. For decades, the atelier has specialized in the creation of museum-quality luxury objects, monumental chess sets, Judaica, centerpieces, and sculptural works that unite fine art, history, and exceptional craftsmanship.
